The hunt for horses is on. No easy feat considering that it starts 8000 miles away in Paris with my only knowledge being that of a childhood littered with horse figurines and Black Beauty books.

I start calling numbers of outfitters, ranches and stables from the Alaska Yellow Pages staring at me from my computer screen.
